Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from a nationally recognised/certified university in Geospatial Sciences or a related field, with 2 years of post-related experience. Alternatively, 6 years of extensive and progressive experience in duties related to the post may compensate for the lack of a university degree.
At least 2 years of professional experience in geospatial data management.
Minimum 2 years of experience with the ESRI Enterprise Software Suite, particularly desktop tools used for geospatial data production and maintenance.
Strong understanding of geographic data types, coordinate systems, projections and metadata.
Experience with different geospatial data formats for vector and raster data.
Experience in geospatial data quality assurance and quality control.
Expert-level understanding of vector data manipulation.
Expert-level understanding of raster data manipulation.
Expert-level understanding of common raster formats and their advantages and disadvantages.
Minimum 2 years of experience using ArcGIS Desktop Software (ArcGIS Pro), including data editing, data management and advanced mosaic dataset functionality.
Understanding of geospatial analysis.
Familiarity with data transfer protocols and tools.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
General familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
Proven ability to work effectively within a multinational team.
Fluent professional business English.
Desirable:
Knowledge and experience working against NATO standards.
Experience preparing geospatial data for NATO systems.
Experience developing tools using ArcGIS Toolbox and ArcPy.
Expert-level understanding of raster tile creation based on tiling schemas, including ArcGIS, Google and Bing tiling schemas.
Duties & Role:
Maintain, organise and manage geospatial datasets and metadata.
Support data ingestion, transformation, validation and quality assurance processes.
Develop and maintain geodatabases and spatial data repositories.
Monitor and maintain spatial data integrity, consistency and version control.
Coordinate data backup and archival procedures.
Maintain documentation for geospatial datasets, workflows and system configurations.
Support data governance and compliance with organisational GIS standards.
Support geospatial environments hosted on cloud platforms and on-premises servers, including backups, documentation, system improvements and obsolescence management.
Coordinate with Geospatial IT personnel to maintain secure GIS operations.
Assist with deployment, maintenance and troubleshooting of GIS services and applications.
Perform basic spatial analysis using GIS software and scripting tools.
Create maps and visualisations to support operational and business requirements.
Support data preparation for modelling, reporting and decision-making activities.
Assist in generating standard GIS products and analytical outputs.
Participate in project meetings and provide status updates.
Support documentation at all levels.
Collaborate with analysts, developers and engineers.
Recommend improvements to geospatial workflows, data management practices and system efficiency.
Integrate into an international team of geospatial experts.
Specific Working Conditions:
All documentation shall use NCI Agency templates or templates agreed with the NCI Agency Project Manager.
All solutions, tools and code developed under the project will remain the property of the NCI Agency.
Expected extensions for this post for 2027–2029.
