GIS/Spatial Senior Project Officer contract based in Townsville

Your New Role
As a Senior Project Officer (A06), you will lead and support spatial information management and analysis activities across abandoned mine remediation projects and state-owned non-commercial water assets. You'll be responsible for developing and maintaining geospatial data architecture, delivering GIS solutions, and providing critical insights that support project planning and delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing spatial data and GIS platforms including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.
Designing and developing ESRI web applications, dashboards, field maps and visualisation tools.
Maintaining geospatial data architecture, metadata standards, and quality assurance processes.
Producing spatial analysis, reporting and visualisations using GIS, Power BI and related technologies.
Coordinating procurement activities and project delivery associated with spatial information systems.
Providing specialist technical advice to stakeholders and supporting field-based project activities.
Contributing to risk management, governance, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Building strong relationships with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders.
Acting as a statewide lead for spatial and data-related initiatives within the business unit.
What You'll Need to Succeed
To be successful, you will bring strong GIS and spatial data management experience, along with the ability to deliver outcomes across complex technical projects.
You will ideally have:
Demonstrated experience working across the ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.
Experience with Web GIS applications, dashboards, spatial databases, Postgres, Spatial SQL and metadata management.
Knowledge of geospatial data architecture, governance and best practice data management principles.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
Proven stakeholder engagement and project coordination skills.
A tertiary qualification in Geospatial Science, Geoscience, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline (highly regarded).
A current open C Class Driver Licence.
The ability to undertake occasional travel, including remote site visits and overnight stays.
Experience working in mining, environmental, natural resources, infrastructure or government environments will be highly regarded.

Attractive hourly rate of $82.93 per hour.
12% employer superannuation contribution plus leave loading.
Contract through to 30 June 2027.
