Job Description: Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented BIM / GIS Specialist to join our team! What You’ll Be Doing Lead BIM and GIS coordination activities across the project. Develop, manage, and maintain integrated BIM and GIS data environments.
Coordinate BIM models and GIS datasets across multidisciplinary project teams. Ensure spatial and engineering information is accurately integrated and geographically referenced. Support implementation of project BIM and GIS standards, procedures, and information requirements.
Review BIM models and GIS data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with project requirements. Coordinate with BIM Managers, GIS teams, Design Consultants, Contractors, Survey teams, and Engineering disciplines. Support development and maintenance of the Common Data Environment (CDE) for BIM and GIS information.
Coordinate model and data exchanges between project stakeholders. Manage spatial databases, geodatabases, GIS layers, asset data, and associated metadata. Perform GIS data collection, processing, analysis, visualization, and quality checking.
Integrate CAD, BIM, GIS, survey, and asset information into coordinated project datasets. Support conversion and interoperability between CAD, BIM, GIS, and other engineering data formats. Develop and maintain GIS maps, dashboards, spatial analysis outputs, and project visualization tools.
Support BIM model federation and coordination with GIS datasets. Identify spatial conflicts and interface issues between infrastructure assets and project elements. Support clash detection and spatial coordination between BIM models, utilities, infrastructure, and existing assets.
Coordinate with Survey teams to ensure accurate coordinate systems, benchmarks, control points, and geospatial data. Verify model and GIS data against approved drawings, surveys, site information, and as-built records. Support field data collection and integration of survey information into BIM / GIS platforms.
Develop and maintain asset location and infrastructure databases. Support data requirements for project handover and asset management. Ensure BIM and GIS information is maintained throughout design, construction, commissioning, and handover.
Provide technical support and guidance to project teams on BIM / GIS requirements. Develop workflows and standards to improve BIM / GIS data quality and efficiency. Identify opportunities for automation, digital integration, and improved information management.
Support preparation of BIM / GIS reports, dashboards, and management presentations. Maintain BIM / GIS registers, issue logs, data quality reports, and coordination records. Airport / Infrastructure & Airfield Responsibilities Support BIM / GIS coordination for airport terminals, runways, taxiways, aprons, roads, utilities, drainage, buildings, and external infrastructure.
Develop and maintain GIS datasets for airport and airfield infrastructure. Integrate airfield assets and infrastructure information into GIS platforms. Support spatial coordination of underground utilities and existing infrastructure.
Coordinate GIS information for roads, pavements, drainage networks, utilities, lighting, signage, and other airport assets. Support integration of BIM models with airport-wide GIS and asset management systems. Manage spatial information associated with airside and landside infrastructure.
Support construction planning and progress monitoring through BIM / GIS visualization. Provide spatial analysis to support construction sequencing, access planning, logistics, and site coordination. Support integration of as-built information into the final GIS and BIM databases.
Ensure airport-specific coordinate systems, survey controls, and geospatial requirements are correctly implemented. BIM Responsibilities Review and coordinate BIM models from different disciplines and design consultants. Support model federation and multidisciplinary BIM coordination.
Check BIM models against project BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and Employer's Information Requirements (EIR). Monitor model naming, classification, parameters, levels of development/information, and data requirements. Support BIM model audits and quality assurance.
Identify model coordination issues and ensure timely resolution. Support integration of BIM information with construction schedules and project controls where required. Coordinate BIM information required for commissioning, handover, and asset management.
Support 3D visualization and model-based project reviews. GIS Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and manage project geodatabases. Manage spatial layers for infrastructure, utilities, buildings, roads, pavements, drainage, and airport assets.
Perform spatial analysis and data validation. Produce project maps, drawings, dashboards, and spatial reports. Manage coordinate reference systems and spatial data standards. Integrate GPS, survey, CAD, BIM, satellite, and field data into GIS systems.
Perform data conversion, georeferencing, editing, and quality assurance. Support GIS-based asset tracking and infrastructure management. Maintain metadata and ensure traceability of GIS datasets.
Digital
Information & Data Management Support integration between BIM, GIS, CDE, document management, and asset management platforms. Ensure project information is structured and accessible in accordance with approved information requirements. Support digital handover and asset information delivery.
Coordinate data requirements between design, construction, commissioning, and operations teams. Identify opportunities for digital transformation and automation of BIM / GIS workflows. Support development of dashboards and visualization tools for management and project teams.
Qualifications &
Experience Bachelor's Degree in Geomatics, GIS, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Information Technology, Surveying, or a related discipline. Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in BIM, GIS, geospatial information management, infrastructure information management, or a combination of these fields. Strong experience working on major infrastructure, airport, transportation, or multidisciplinary construction projects.
Proven experience integrating BIM and GIS information across complex infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of BIM coordination principles, GIS data management, spatial analysis, and geospatial databases. Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, AutoCAD, ArcGIS Pro / ArcGIS Online, or equivalent platforms.
Experience with BIM standards, BEP, EIR, CDE, model coordination, and information management. Strong knowledge of coordinate systems, georeferencing, spatial databases, and survey data.
Experience with underground utilities and infrastructure GIS is highly desirable.
Experience with airport / airfield GIS and asset information is preferred. Knowledge of ISO 19650 and relevant BIM information management standards is an advantage. Knowledge of scripting / automation using Python, Dynamo, FME, or similar tools is an advantage.
