At the Geodata Unit, 15 dedicated employees currently manage surveying, maintenance of the primary map, production of new construction maps, building placement verification, positional checks, review of site plans and base maps for detailed development plans, control networks, addressing, and the management and development of geospatial data and GIS. We actively contribute to organizational development and competence enhancement across our own and other departments in the transition toward a fully digital urban development process. The unit is also responsible for the quality and timeliness of the base map, the 3D model, and the procurement of aerial photography and LiDAR scanning. We work digitally and activity-based, and are based at the municipal city hall. You will also have the opportunity to work part of your working hours remotely. Key Responsibilities As a cartographic engineer, you will play a central role in ensuring that the municipality’s geographic information remains current and reliable. Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for managing address assignments and registering apartment numbers—covering the entire process from handling orders and decision-making to actual updates in the cartographic database. Another key part of the role is maintaining the primary map, which entails full responsibility for collecting, processing, quality-assuring, and storing geographic data in the municipality’s database. We work with service-based updates of BAL information (Building, Address, and Apartment). In your daily work, you will use tools such as: Gaida Karta, ArcGIS Pro, LINA, and the case management system Nova Bygg. Qualifications We are looking for candidates with a higher education degree in surveying and cartography, a YH (vocational higher education) qualification, or equivalent education deemed relevant and comparable by the employer. Experience with address management and knowledge of service-based BAL updates are meritorious. You possess sound decision-making skills and feel comfortable making difficult decisions—even in complex situations—and can justify your decisions in a factual and professional manner. You thrive in close contact with citizens and can combine your decisiveness with a friendly, service-oriented approach. As you will interact with many different people, strong communication skills are essential. You must be approachable and fluent in both spoken and written Swedish and English. In addition to solid expertise in cartography and geographic data, we seek someone who is efficient, highly quality-conscious, and possesses strong geospatial competencies and a good understanding of data management. You should also have the technical insight needed to effectively use and navigate the software and technical environment used for mapping and data production. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, works systematically, and can plan their own work. You enjoy collaborative work but are also capable of working independently.
