About the Role
Data Architect / Data Modeller - Outside IR35
馃搮 Start: October 2026
馃攼 Clearance: BPSS
鈽侊笍 Environment: AWS, Snowflake, ESRI / GIS The Role
We鈥檙e looking for an experienced Data Architect / Data Modeller to support the design and delivery of a new geospatial data platform within a large-scale public sector environment.
The initial focus will be on delivering a production-grade prototype that brings together multiple data sources into a transformed data layer and common data model, creating the foundations for future applications and wider adoption.
This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who can comfortably work across data architecture, data modelling and data engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Lead data architecture and modelling activity through Discovery & Design
Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models
Understand data sources, structures, relationships and data flows
Work closely with Data Engineers to translate models into implemented solutions
Define data structures and modelling approaches across Snowflake and AWS
Work with complex geospatial/GIS data, including vector, raster and imagery data
Define source-to-target mappings and transformation requirements
Establish approaches to data lineage, quality, metadata and governance
Identify data dependencies, constraints and legacy data challenges
Collaborate with Architects, Data Engineers, GIS/ESRI specialists, BAs and Product teams
Ensure the prototype has a clear path towards a scalable, production-grade platform
Essential Experience
Strong background as a Data Architect, Data Modeller or Data Architect/Modeller
Strong experience with logical and physical data modelling
Modern data architecture and data platform design
Snowflake
AWS
Data ingestion, transformation and integration patterns
Data lineage, data quality, metadata and governance
Ability to work closely with engineering teams and get into the detail
Experience working in Agile, multidisciplinary teams
Comfortable working in environments where requirements and data sources are still being discovered
Desirable
Geospatial / GIS data experience
ESRI / ArcGIS
Experience modernising or integrating complex legacy datasets
Data lake, lakehouse or modern analytical data platforms
Production-grade data engineering and transformation frameworks
The Ideal Profile
We鈥檙e particularly interested in someone who can bridge data architecture, modelling and engineering, rather than operating purely at a high-level architecture level.
You鈥檒l need to be comfortable getting into the detail of the data, working alongside engineers and GIS specialists, and making pragmatic decisions that allow the team to move quickly while building something that can scale.
If you have strong Data Architecture/Data Modelling experience across AWS and Snowflake and are interested in working on a complex geospatial data platform, please get in touch.
