About the Role
We are hiring a GIS-first Databricks App Engineer to build a map-centric Databricks app for oil & gas.
GIS is the top priority. If you cannot work independently with spatial data, projections, layers, and land-grid concepts, this role is not a fit — even with strong Python.
What you will build
A Databricks-hosted map app (Cesium preferred) showing well locations and multiple geospatial layers
Well-selection workflows that open complete well detail: surface and subsurface attributes, depth, leases, ownership, and related records
Python + SQL pipelines that prepare, serve, and keep spatial datasets in sync with Databricks
APIs and app logic that connect the map UI to well, lease, and ownership data
Must have
Hands-on GIS / geospatial delivery (ArcGIS, QGIS, PostGIS, GeoServer, Mapbox, or equivalent) — this is the primary filter
Comfort with map layers, projections/CRS, spatial joins, and location-based UIs
Ability to represent US land / survey / OGE concepts in an application: wells, leases, ownership, county, section, township/range or equivalent land grid
Strong Python for spatial data prep, APIs/services, and app logic
SQL, REST APIs, JSON, Git
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
16 years full-time education
Good to have
Databricks Apps, notebooks, jobs, Spark / PySpark, Delta Lake
Cesium (or Mapbox GL, Leaflet, OpenLayers)
Front-end / back-end: React, Node, HTML
Prior well, lease, or land-grid data work in oil & gas
CI/CD with Git
