At Compass Informatics, we use geospatial technology, Earth Observation (EO) data and innovative thinking to help organisations make smarter decisions about the world around them. We're looking for a GeoIntelligence Consultant & Team Lead (EO) to join our growing Earth Observation team and play a key role in delivering impactful EO solutions for clients across environmental, agricultural and spatial monitoring projects.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who combines technical EO expertise with strong consultancy and project leadership skills. You'll work closely with clients, analysts, technical specialists and project teams to turn complex monitoring requirements into practical solutions, guiding projects from concept through to delivery.
What you'll be doing
As a GeoIntelligence Consultant & Team Lead, you'll act as a trusted advisor to clients whilst helping deliver high-quality EO projects.
You'll:
Lead and manage EO and GIS projects, ensuring work is delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard.
Engage with clients to understand monitoring requirements and translate them into effective EO solutions.
Coordinate project activities and provide guidance to analysts and technical team members.
Support the design and delivery of EO projects from concept through to operational implementation.
Identify and recommend the most appropriate mix of technologies, tools and methodologies for each project.
Apply expertise in Sentinel-1 SAR, Sentinel-2 multispectral imagery and other EO datasets to validate, interpret and quality assure outputs.
Analyse spatial and non-spatial data to identify trends, insights and opportunities.
Develop clear reports, dashboards, visualisations and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve technical challenges and optimise project outcomes.
Contribute to proposals, tenders, demonstrations and project documentation.
Stay up to date with emerging EO technologies, data platforms and industry developments.
What we're looking for
We're interested in hearing from people who have a combination of the following:
Essential
MSc qualification in Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, or equivalent practical experience.
Strong knowledge of Earth Observation principles and applications, particularly Sentinel-1 SAR and Sentinel-2 imagery.
Experience applying EO data to environmental, agricultural or spatial monitoring challenges such as change detection, habitat monitoring or land cover mapping.
Experience leading or coordinating projects and working collaboratively across technical teams.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences.
Experience using GIS platforms such as QGIS or ArcGIS.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Desirable
Experience working in a consultancy or client-facing environment.
Knowledge of FME, Power BI, Tableau or similar data integration and visualisation tools.
Familiarity with EO software such as SNAP, ENVI or similar.
Experience with EO data services and platforms including CDSE, CreoDIAS, Google Earth Engine, AWS or Azure.
Python or automation experience to support EO data workflows.
Experience supporting proposals, tenders or client demonstrations.
