In Hatch Chile, we are looking for 2 interns for our Environment, People, and Place (EP&P) team: one focused on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the other on Natural Resources.

Environmental Engineering / Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
We are seeking an intern with interest in GIS and environmental cartography. The intern will support spatial data management and analysis, thematic map production, and cartographic product development for mining, energy, and infrastructure projects.
Basic to intermediate proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and motivation to learn in a multidisciplinary consulting environment are required.
You will have the opportunity to participate in national and international projects primarily in mining, energy, and infrastructure, gaining experience in GIS, spatial analysis, environmental cartography, environmental assessment, and engineering consulting.
The main objective is to support the EP&P team in managing, analyzing, and representing geospatial information for mining, energy, and infrastructure projects using GIS tools and producing thematic cartography to support environmental studies, regulatory assessments, and technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Collect, review, and organize geospatial data from various sources.
Create thematic and technical maps for project reports, studies, and presentations.
Maintain and update spatial databases and geodatabases.
Perform basic geoprocessing tasks using GIS software.
Generate figures, plans, and cartographic products for internal reports and client deliverables.
Verify consistency and quality of spatial data and cartography produced by the team.
Support preparation of technical documentation related to environmental permits.
Assist with spatial analysis activities under the supervision of area professionals.
Academic Background
Student in final year or recent graduate in:
Environmental Engineering
Geography
Forestry Engineering
Natural Resources Engineering
Civil Engineering (with interest in spatial analysis)
Related fields
Technical Skills – Required
Basic to intermediate proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS).
Knowledge of geospatial formats (Shapefile, GeoJSON, Geopackage, Raster, etc.).
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Basic understanding of cartography and coordinate systems.
Ability to organize and manage spatial information.
Preferred Qualifications
Academic experience in thematic map creation.
Basic knowledge of Python for GIS.
Experience with ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, or similar tools.
General knowledge of environmental assessment and land-use planning.
General interest in mining, energy, and infrastructure projects.
Intermediate English.
No prior work experience is required.

Environmental Engineering / Natural Resources
The main objective is to support the EP&P team in conducting environmental studies, regulatory analyses, sectoral permits, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), and stakeholder engagement with authorities—contributing to the development of mining, energy, and infrastructure projects through the collection, analysis, and systematization of technical and regulatory information.
Key Responsibilities
Support preparation of technical chapters and annexes for Environmental Impact Studies and Declarations.
Collect, organize, and analyze baseline environmental and regulatory background information.
Support preparation of relevance consultations and regulatory assessments.
Collaborate in reviewing requirements for environmental and sectoral permits.
Conduct research and analysis of applicable environmental regulations for projects.
Develop regulatory compliance matrices.
Support preparation of technical reports, memos, and client presentations.
Participate in environmental due diligence and document reviews.
Support identification of environmental, regulatory, and permitting risks.
Assist in coordinating and tracking project deliverables.
Support document management and technical information control processes.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Chile’s Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA).
General knowledge of environmental and sectoral permits.
Familiarity with relevance consultations.
Basic knowledge of environmental components such as:

About the Internship at Hatch
Internship start date: Wednesday, January 13, 2027.

Full-time schedule: 40 hours per week, with early dismissal at 1:00 PM on Fridays.
