Are you an early-career GIS professional looking to build your experience with industry-leading geospatial technology and real-world projects? We’re seeking an Assistant GIS Specialist to join our team and support GIS analysis, mapping, data development, and geospatial data management.
This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or GIS professional with internship or consulting experience who is passionate about GIS, enjoys solving problems, and wants to grow their technical skills in a collaborative environment.
📍 Position: Assistant GIS Specialist
🏢 Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite — No Remote / No Hybrid
What You’ll Do:
• Support GIS analysis, data collection, development, maintenance, and mapping for client projects.
• Create and update GIS maps, map layers, and geospatial databases.
• Assist with GIS metadata creation, digital feature extraction, land survey record searches, and property ownership research.
• Perform coordinate system projections, geospatial data transformations, and georeferencing of raster and vector datasets.
• Support GIS data preparation and development for field teams and client deliverables.
• Assist with QA/QC of GIS deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
• Use ArcGIS, Microsoft Office, deeds, field notes, and other project documentation to develop accurate GIS products.
• Communicate project status with internal teams and clients while helping ensure project objectives are met.
• Support ad-hoc GIS analyses and provide recommendations to improve project quality and efficiency.
• Follow all company and site safety policies.
What We’re Looking For:
• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• Basic proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online (AGOL).
• Knowledge of GIS data management and cartography.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team.
• Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn and grow.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Internship or consulting experience related to GIS.
• GIS Professional (GISP) or Esri technical certification.
• Experience with Esri Enterprise products.
• ArcPy and basic Python scripting experience.
• Technical writing or project coordination experience.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
