About the Role
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Engineering, the GIS Analyst is responsible for the management, development, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the Geographic Information System (GIS) for the City of Terre Haute and Terre Haute Sanitary District. This position develops and maintains GIS data, applications, and mapping resources; assists departments and the public with geospatial information; supports asset management and infrastructure projects; and provides training and technical assistance related to GIS technology and data collection.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Configures, develops, maintains, and updates GIS web mapping applications.
Maintain existing GIS data, applications, and technology and expands GIS capabilities as needed to meet organizational needs.
Identifies GIS data needs for the City of Terre Haute and Terre Haute Sanitary District.
Coordinates with other local government entities regarding GIS information, data sharing, and procedures.
Coordinates with the Information Technology Department regarding GIS hardware, software, equipment, and technical needs.
Develops and maintains a GIS maintenance plan.
Works with City departments to identify, develop, and implement customized GIS applications and solutions.
Assists the public and Engineering Department staff with geospatial information, mapping, and related requests.
Facilitates the development, implementation, and deployment of Cityworks within the Engineering Department and other City departments, as needed.
Maintains and updates the Engineering Department website.
Provides deployment assistance and training to appropriate City staff regarding ArcGIS Online, GIS data collection equipment, and data collection methods.
Operates unmanned aircraft systems (drones) and analyzes aerial data collected for infrastructure projects, inspections, mapping, and maintenance activities.
Assists with asset management activities, including the collection and organization of field data for the evaluation and condition rating of existing infrastructure.
Assists with answering telephone calls received on the Engineering Department main line.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems and related applications, including ESRI products.
Ability to maintain accurate, organized, and detailed GIS data and records.
Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data discrepancies and technical issues.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Training
Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, or a related field.
Must possess a valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or obtain certification within one (1) year of employment.
Experience
Experience working with ESRI products and GIS applications.
Experience working in a professional office environment or a related field.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office environment with periodic field investigations and limited travel. May be required to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions during field activities.
