Geographic Information Systems Analyst

This role will be a contract through 6/30/2027, fully onsite in Columbus, OH . Job Overview A client of Insight Global is seeking a GIS Analyst / GIS Applications Developer to support enterprise GIS and data governance initiatives. This individual will develop and maintain GIS applications, manage geospatial data, support mapping and analytics solutions, and work with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable GIS solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong ArcGIS experience, GIS data management expertise, Python scripting skills, and the ability to troubleshoot and support enterprise GIS environments. Must-Haves Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience with ArcGIS Desktop. 3+ years of experience editing, maintaining, and managing GIS data. 1+ year of experience with Python or similar scripting languages (ArcPy preferred). Experience developing and supporting GIS applications, map services, and web mapping solutions. Experience working within enterprise GIS environments, including feature classes and geospatial databases. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into GIS solutions. Nice-to-Have ArcGIS Field Maps experience. ArcServer experience. Power BI or dashboard development experience. Experience supporting data governance initiatives. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Develop, test, and support GIS-based data collection and web mapping applications. Create and maintain feature classes, related tables, map services, and geospatial datasets. Build dashboards and analytics solutions using GIS and BI tools. Support enterprise GIS applications, metadata management, and end-user requests. Troubleshoot GIS, CADD, software, and hardware-related issues. Perform software testing, system maintenance, and data quality monitoring. Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate GIS workflows. Manage data backups, archives, and recovery efforts as needed. Create technical documentation, data models, user guides, and requirements specifications. Collaborate with business and technical teams on GIS, transportation asset management, and data governance projects.
