About the Role
We are seeking a skilled GIS Analyst with expertise in drone-based photogrammetry, LiDAR point cloud processing, and classification using TerraSolid software. The candidate will be responsible for processing UAV imagery, classifying point clouds, generating accurate geospatial datasets, and producing high-quality mapping deliverables for surveying, engineering, infrastructure, and topographic mapping projects.
Key Responsibilities
Process and analyze drone imagery using photogrammetry software to generate orthomosaics, Digital Surface Models (DSM), Digital Terrain Models (DTM), and 3D models.
Perform LiDAR point cloud processing, classification, and quality control using TerraSolid software, including TerraScan, TerraModeler, and related tools.
Classify point clouds into categories such as ground, vegetation, buildings, power lines, poles, and other relevant features.
Perform ground and non-ground classification, noise removal, outlier detection, and point cloud refinement.
Generate accurate terrain models, contours, elevation datasets, and 3D geospatial products.
Integrate UAV imagery, LiDAR point clouds, GNSS/GPS data, and other geospatial datasets within GIS workflows.
Conduct georeferencing, coordinate system transformations, data validation, and spatial analysis.
Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) to ensure classification accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
Prepare GIS maps, reports, deliverables, and technical documentation.
Collaborate with surveyors, remote sensing specialists, and project teams to meet project timelines and accuracy requirements.
Required Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of GIS, remote sensing, photogrammetry, and spatial data processing.
Hands-on experience with TerraSolid software, particularly TerraScan and TerraModeler.
Proficiency in LiDAR point cloud classification and editing workflows.
Experience processing UAV/drone imagery and generating orthomosaics, DSMs, DTMs, and 3D surface models.
Working knowledge of Bentley MicroStation or compatible point cloud processing environments.
Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
Knowledge of LAS/LAZ, GeoTIFF, SHP, DXF, and other common geospatial data formats.
Understanding of coordinate reference systems, georeferencing, GNSS/GCPs, and spatial accuracy assessment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data quality management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in GIS, Geomatics, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Practical experience with UAV LiDAR or airborne LiDAR datasets.
Familiarity with ground control points, checkpoint validation, and photogrammetric quality assessment.
Experience in topographic mapping, corridor mapping, infrastructure mapping, or digital elevation modeling.
Knowledge of Python or other scripting tools for geospatial workflow automation is an advantage.
Key Deliverables
Classified LiDAR point clouds.
Drone orthomosaics and 3D reconstruction products.
Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and Digital Surface Models (DSM).
Contour maps, elevation products, and GIS datasets.
QA/QC reports and project-ready geospatial deliverables.
