About the Role
Our client is an established Esri-based consulting firm with 30+ years behind it and a growth curve that's outpacing its sales capacity. They're adding a hunter: a relationship-driven seller who opens new accounts, works comfortably inside the procurement realities of state and local government, and knows enough about GIS to diagnose a problem before handing it to the technical team.
This is not an account-management seat. The pipeline you build is yours, and the firm's delivery bench is deep enough to close what you find.
Fully remote. Ideal candidate lives in and already has a client network in the Southwest. Strong candidates elsewhere in the continental US will be considered if the relationships and experience are there.
What the firm does
Enterprise geospatial solutions for State and Local Government, Energy, Utilities, and Environmental/Industrial Services:
Geospatial strategic consulting
Geospatial infrastructure and administration
Geospatial automation
Geospatial AI, integration, and customization
What you'll do
Prospect and open new accounts in the Southwest across target verticals
Work your existing relationships with agency leaders, business owners, and C-level decision makers
Run a solution-selling process: surface latent pain, make it urgent, and bring the right technical resources in at the right moment
Navigate public-sector procurement, contract vehicles, and approval cycles without losing momentum
Qualify opportunities, deliver presentations, and develop proposals with sales support
Represent the firm at industry events and build brand presence in your territory
Support pipeline management and account planning with sales leadership
Negotiate and close to meet or exceed targets; travel as needed
Who this fits
6+ years of sales, account management, or business development into State and Local Government, Energy, Utilities, or Environmental/Industrial Services
Consulting background required. You've sold services and solutions, and you understand how a consulting engagement is scoped and delivered
Proven vertical depth: you bring real use cases and a live relationship network in at least one target industry. Energy and State/Local are the core, but deep expertise in another geospatial-adjacent vertical is a plus
Working GIS and Esri technology knowledge, enough to identify the problem and set up a productive technical conversation
Persistent through objections, but a consultative seller, not a closer-at-all-costs
Stable work history with demonstrated tenure and quota attainment
Formal sales training, strong organization, and self-direction in a remote role
Why this one
Established brand, technical credibility that's already earned, and a leadership team that wants to grow. If you've been selling GIS services for someone who can't deliver what you promise, this is the opposite of that.
