Role The role involves performing GIS analyst activities.
Responsibilities
· Assemble and present analysis of geospatial data coverage and quality, for suitability testing of source datasets.
· Extract, query, analyze and produce visualizations for geographic boundaries and other geospatial data types.
· Develop bash shell, python and SQL code to perform spatial data extraction and analysis.
· Manage code and code documentation in GitHub, performing peer review of team member contributions.
· Setup territory projects for territory feature custom editing.
· Produce technical documentation for address formatting requirements in collaboration with subject matter experts.
· Produce and maintain address formatting rulesets for countries globally, using internal applications.
· Test, review and generate reports on data and address formatting changes.
· Document processes and steps to complete tasks.
· Apply Agile software development practices for managing tasks and sprint stories.
· File bug reports for tools and software issues
Skill & Qualification
· 2+ years training/college or working experience in mapping, GIS, and spatial analysis.
· Use of GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, PostgreSQL/PostGIS to process geospatial data and analyze layers of data relevant to mapping applications.
· Ability to write and run Snowflake/Postgres SQL queries to analyze data results.
· Knowledge of administrative, census, postal and regional geographies and their use in commercial mapping applications.
· Ability to analyze addressing datasets in a variety of formats (e.g. CSV, shapefile and JSON) and identify postal related layers (e.g. localities and dependent localities) required for address geocoding.
· Ability to research and troubleshoot issues in maps data to improve data quality and geocoding accuracy.
· Understanding of and experience using GitHub for code revision management.
· Ability to write Linux commands for basic data processing and GIT repo maintenance.
· Ability to read, understand, apply and contribute modifications to technical data specifications.
· Ability to identify and propose task optimizations to improve process workflows.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting and summarizing detailed analysis.
· Able to work both in a team or independently when required.
· Experience in data localization and understanding semantics in other languages is a bonus but not required.
· Ability to follow and question complex procedural instructions in English that may have gaps, ambiguities, contradictions or other imperfections typical of early-stage piloting.
· Ability to work full-time on location as required
