ABOUT THE JOB
Under general supervision, the GIS Analyst I provides Geographic Information System (GIS) support in the development and maintenance of geospatial data repositories. The GIS Analyst II is responsible for providing first and second tier support to GIS users as well as collaborating with stakeholders to guide development of new and existing GIS systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews and interprets data sources and uses basic GIS software functions to enter, edit, and update GIS spatial data, including points, lines, and polygons, and attribute data into databases or layers, following standard procedures.
Creates and publishes hosted feature layers and webmaps to AGOL and Enterprise.
Writes, updates, and maintains scripts to assist in automation and integration of new systems.
Defines GIS product needs per request, works with supervisor or requestor to ensure compliance with identified need. Utilizes appropriate application to develop and prepare the GIS product using department standards.
Works with end users to analyze, configure, and/or tailor GIS web mapping applications to fit their requirements.
Provides user training in the use of GIS software and/or manuals; coordinates and schedules training classes; develops, maintains, verifies, and updates operational procedures and documentation.
Updates trackers based on project progress.
Imports and exports data in a variety of formats into/from existing or new data sources.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong data base, software and operating systems background.
Strong Analytical Skills.
Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop or ArcPro software including ESRI Apps like Field Maps/ArcGIS Online (AGOL)/ESRI Portal and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Required.
File and generate reports.
Clerical skills.
Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions.
Ability to work under pressure with good organizational skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Initiative in recognizing need for improvement in, or adaptation of, existing systems and effecting changes in them.
Tracking down missing and misfiled items.
Accuracy in filing.
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or a minimum of three to five years GIS experience.

Good communication skills.
Must be able to prioritize projects and multi-task.

ENVIRONMENTAL / WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment.
Occasional business travel may be required based on business needs.
