About the Role

GIS Consultant - Bristol/Hybrid (2 days in office) - Up to £40,000 per annum + package - Security Clearance Required Your new company Hays are supporting a leading defence and infrastructure consultancy in Bristol to recruit a GIS Consultant. This business plays a pivotal role in delivering complex, high-profile projects across the UK, working closely with government, defence, and critical national infrastructure clients. They are looking for an ambitious GIS professional with an active Security Clearance (SC) to join their growing geospatial team. Your new role As a GIS Consultant, you will be embedded within high-value projects, providing expert spatial analysis, data management, and web GIS solutions. You will work directly with multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental teams, helping clients turn complex spatial data into actionable intelligence. Key responsibilities include: Spatial Analysis & Data Management: Processing, analyzing, and managing complex spatial datasets to support infrastructure, environmental, and defence projects. Web GIS & Dashboard Development: Designing, building, and deploying interactive Web GIS applications and dashboards using ArcGIS Online / Enterprise. Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Translating complex technical requirements into practical GIS solutions for non-technical stakeholders and external clients. Automation & Process Improvement: Utilizing Python, ModelBuilder, or FME to streamline data workflows and spatial data processing. Quality Assurance: Ensuring all GIS deliverables meet strict project standards and industry best practices. What you'll need to succeed Security Clearance: Active UK Security Clearance (SC) is mandatory due to the nature of the projects. Experience: Proven track record working as a GIS Analyst or Consultant, ideally within consultancy, defence, or infrastructure sectors. Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills across the Esri suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, Experience Builder, Dashboards). Data & Automation: Experience with Python, FME, or SQL for spatial data manipulation and workflow automation is highly desirable. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the confidence to advise internal teams and external clients.
