GIS Coordinator (GIS Project Manager)

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 8/25/2026 11:59 PM Central The Metropolitan Council is the regional planning agency for the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area providing essential services to our region: transportation, wastewater collection and treatment, growth and development of local communities, affordable housing programs, and regional park systems. Our Information Services (IS) department of 140+ members provides IT support to all Council divisions. This position is eligible for hybrid (remote and onsite) teleworking. The GIS Coordinator (GIS Project Manager) is part of the Council’s core GIS team in the IS Department and works with all Metropolitan Council Divisions (Metro Transit, Environmental Services, Community Development, Metropolitan Transportation Services, and Regional Administration), overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) projects. This role ensures that technical teams, project stakeholders, and organizational leadership stay aligned on project goals, timelines, data quality, and outcomes. The GIS Project Manager combines project management expertise with strong geospatial knowledge to lead complex initiatives supporting analysis, mapping, planning, and decision-making.
