About the Role
Overview
Leads technical development and projects within the City of Atlanta – Department of Aviation’s Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) team at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL). Uses geospatial technology expertise to support ATL stakeholders related to GIS data and technologies. Provides guidance and supervises GIS staff assigned as direct reports. Manages GIS cloud-based services and geospatial environments. Performs project management and guidance of staff and consultant support for GIS data collection, conversion, maintenance, and map production.
This is a senior-level position capable of carrying out most assignments under general direction.
Essential duties
High degree of experience with Esri ArcGIS desktop and cloud platforms, including ArcGIS Pro (v. 3.2+), ArcGIS Indoors, Field Maps, and Survey123
Thorough knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise (server & SDE) hosted in Amazon or Azure
Thorough knowledge of ArcGIS Server Manager, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Portal, and Velocity
Experience with Autodesk products including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, and Construction Cloud
Desired: GIS/CAD data conversion, data interoperability, GeoBIM workflows
Desired: FME (Workbench), ArcGIS ModelBuilder, Arcade, and Python
Plus: survey-grade GPS data collectors
Familiarity with Monday.com and Microsoft Project
Assist the GIS Manager with supervising, planning, and coordinating GIS group work, goals, policies, and work standards
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
GIS project and consultant/developer management
Administration of ArcGIS Online, Portal, and Enterprise cloud environments
GIS data development and maintenance best practices
GIS systems design and implementation
Train, supervise, and support GIS staff; leadership of direct reports
Assist GIS Manager and Airport Director with annual GIS budgets
Review and edit geospatial data for the airport Enterprise Geodatabase
Plan and administer contract developers/consultants
Develop and manage geospatial applications; train airport business units
Research new GIS hardware/software; Microsoft Office; PC systems/networks
Geospatial coordinate systems and GPS principles
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geography, CAD, or related field
Four (4) years of work experience in GIS support
Preferred: six (6) years of GIS support experience
Compensation and schedule
Salary range: $80,000–$92,000
Hybrid: at least four days in-person at City worksites/facilities per week, with option for one remote day (subject to change)
