Role Description The GIS Data Entry Specialist is responsible for accurately entering, updating, and maintaining spatial and non-spatial data within GIS databases and related systems. This full-time, on-site role in Dubai involves digitizing maps, verifying survey data, and ensuring data integrity and consistency across various GIS layers and datasets. The specialist collaborates with surveyors and engineers to interpret source documents, resolve data discrepancies, and prepare basic maps and reports for internal use.
Daily tasks include quality-checking data, organizing files and metadata, supporting data backups, and following established data management procedures. The role also requires adherence to company standards, project timelines, and confidentiality and security protocols.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret survey data, verify accuracy, and identify inconsistencies in GIS datasets.
Candidates should possess effective communication skills for collaborating with surveyors, engineers, and team members, and for documenting data issues and resolutions clearly.
Candidates should possess information management skills to organize, store, retrieve, and maintain spatial and non-spatial records, metadata, and project documentation.
Candidates should possess information technology skills, including basic proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), database tools, and standard office applications.
Candidates should possess cybersecurity awareness, including safe data handling practices, adherence to access controls, and respect for data privacy and confidentiality.
Relevant experience in GIS data entry, land surveying support, or geospatial data management is beneficial.
A diploma or degree in GIS, Geography, Surveying, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
