About the Role
Company
SYSTRA Canada is part of SYSTRA Group, a global leader in transportation infrastructure engineering and consulting. SYSTRA Canada specializes in delivering transport solutions—ranging from feasibility studies for new rail lines to capacity upgrades and railway privatization—for both passenger and freight systems.
Context
The GIS Developer will support the integration of geospatial data, automation of workflows, and land information management within a multidisciplinary infrastructure environment. Working closely with GIS, land, design, and digital delivery teams, the successful candidate will enhance interoperability, data quality, and operational efficiency across multiple digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, maintain, and optimize FME workflows to transform, validate, and integrate data across GIS, CAD, BIM, document repositories, and external data sources.
Support integration of land survey, utility, environmental, and alignment data into GIS environments.
Develop data pipelines and connectors to enable reliable, scalable information exchange between project systems and APIs.
Support structured management of high-volume parcel and property data for use in GIS and land acquisition processes.
Develop automated workflows to support identification and tracking of requested properties/parcels, and management of land attributes (e.g., access dates, occupancy, temporary use requirements).
Populate, update, and maintain GIS datasets used for land acquisition and related project workflows.
Implement automation solutions to reduce manual effort in high-volume, repetitive tasks—including data ingestion, synchronization, validation, QA/QC, reporting, and submission preparation.
Ensure workflows are rule-based, scalable, and integrated into project systems and controlled data repositories.
Integrate FME workflows with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, web GIS services, and project common data environments to support secure, controlled storage, access, and efficient data sharing.
Enable publishing of data to web GIS platforms for stakeholder access, review, and interaction.
Apply data validation rules, schema controls, and metadata preparation practices in compliance with geospatial standards and project requirements.
Support traceability and auditability of data transformations and exchanges across systems.
Develop GIS datasets and workflows to support advanced digital delivery use cases—including digital twins and interdisciplinary data flows between GIS, BIM, and other project management systems—as required.
Deliver clean, structured, and reliable datasets to support analytics, simulation, reporting, and decision-making.
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across GIS, land, environment, design, and digital delivery.
Qualifications & Skills
Education
Bachelor’s degree in geomatics, geography, GIS, engineering, computer science, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and practical experience will also be considered.
Experience
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in geospatial data integration, enterprise GIS environments, workflow automation, and land or infrastructure-related data management. Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, transportation, or complex multidisciplinary projects is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency in FME (including Form, Flow, and/or Server)
Strong experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Pro
Experience working with geodatabases, spatial data models, and structured geospatial datasets
Knowledge of ETL processes, APIs, and data integration frameworks
Familiarity with data exchange between GIS and design environments (e.g., CAD/BIM platforms)
Experience with relational databases, data validation, and QA/QC processes
Solid understanding of land and cadastral data models, multi-stage land acquisition workflows, and high-volume dataset management
Experience working in common data environments and digital delivery ecosystems involving multiple stakeholders
Ability to design reusable, scalable, and maintainable ETL workflows
Understanding of interoperability, system integration, and data governance best practices
Ability to support structured data delivery for analytics, reporting, simulation, and digital twin applications
Language Requirements
Fluency in both French and English (written and spoken) is required.
- Reason for bilingualism requirement: You will collaborate with a diverse client base, including French- and English-speaking companies. Bilingualism is essential to build strong client relationships, understand their specific needs, and communicate effectively in their preferred language.
