About The Role
Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a GIS Developer to join our £1.2 billion Lower Thames Crossing project The Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects. LTC is a new road that will connect Kent and Essex through a tunnel beneath the River Thames and will be the greenest road ever built in the UK - creating six times more green space than road. The reliable new route will almost double road capacity over the river east of London to reduce congestion and give millions of people more choice on where they live, work and spend their valuable time.

As a GIS Developer, you will support the project with GIS activities and the delivery of GIS requirements, working as an integral member of the IM team, within the remit of digital delivery across the project, whilst supporting and interfacing with all functions.
What you'll be doing
Provide guidance on GIS technology and delivery of GIS requirements.
Managing data and ensuring accuracy of data, including assurance to the required standards.
Work closely with Project Teams and data stakeholders to convert data to GIS formats.
Training users on GIS technology.
Engage with down-stream users to help improve their work.
Ensuring that GIS deliverables meet client GIS standards and specifications.
Engage directly with the client’s GIS experts.
Creating GIS requirements to be used across projects by teams.
Developing the software components on the ESRI ecosystem.
Developing FME workbenches and automating data loads to the database.
Share lessons learnt with wider business as required.

Who we're looking for
Ability to innovate and bring new ideas to the project.
Ability to collaborate with client and subcontractor(s) to meet their requirements.
Ability to mentor and train team members on GIS processes.
Experience with development of web interfaces.
Experience of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/ArcGIS Portal.
Experience of FME Desktop or FME Server.
Experience of ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.
Experience of the current version of ArcGIS Server.
Experience working with databases, e.g. PostGIS
Experience automating tasks and creating workflows.
Experience working with many evolving datasets.
Experience of wider GIS standards and industry practices.
Experience of integrating software, platforms and data.
Knowledge of BIM standards: ISO19650
