Position Description:
(Note: This job posting is only open to native or near-native Dutch speakers. If you are not proficient in Dutch, please explore our other job openings.)
Do you speak native or near-native Dutch? Then keep reading!
Supplying drinking water to 8 million people. Power grids for the entire Netherlands.
The GIS systems you develop form the digital backbone of critical infrastructure—not as a cog in a large machine, but as the expert shaping how these systems are built.
What will you do?
You’ll work in a DevOps team of eight GEO-ICT specialists, supporting clients such as water utilities, energy network operators, and ProRail. In practice, this means:
Developing and enhancing GIS applications in Smallworld GIS (Magik) and/or Esri—from concept to production.
Advising clients directly on GEO-ICT challenges; your expertise directly influences client decisions.
Proactively identifying and addressing improvement opportunities in existing systems—without waiting for instructions.
Participating in sprint planning, code reviews, and technical discussions; you’ll justify and defend your technical choices.
If you have a Java or C# background but no prior Smallworld experience, we’ll provide a fully paid Geo-ICT Master Class during working hours to get you up to speed.
Your role in the team
You’ll be part of a small, self-managing team—no management layers slowing down decisions. Together with your direct colleagues, you’ll plan your own sprints, define the technical direction, and take ownership of the final outcome. Client contact is standard—you’re not a remote executor, but an engaged partner.
What you bring
Minimum 2 years of experience in application development; preferably in a GEO-ICT or infrastructure context.
Knowledge of Java and/or C#, and either experience with or affinity for GE Smallworld GIS / Esri.
A WO (research university) degree, preferably in Informatics, Information Science, or a geospatial/geo-technical field.
Fluent Dutch communication skills—for both colleagues and clients.
What we offer
A permanent contract and a competitive salary aligned with your knowledge and experience.
Full ownership of your career path, with ample room for personal development.
Working on cutting-edge topics and technologies: data, AI, cloud, Agile delivery, and digital transformation.
A competitive salary and attractive secondary employment conditions.
Immediate permanent contract.
Hybrid working: from home, the office, or client sites—depending on project and team agreements.
Flexible working hours and part-time options, tailored to the role and client requirements.
