About the Role
PRADAN (Professional Assistance for Development Action) is hiring a GIS Expert (1 vacancy) in Ranchi, Jharkhand. 1-year fixed-term contract, extendable based on performance.
Responsibilities:
Design, edit, manage, and prepare GIS datasets for programme initiatives; integrate field-collected data and undertake map digitisation.
Data cleaning, transformation, topology maintenance; manage vector and raster GIS data.
Cadastral and COGO-based mapping (parcels, rights-of-way, government properties).
Process panchromatic and multispectral remote-sensing data; spatial analysis; thematic maps (water bodies, vegetation, land use).
QA/QC for GIS and cadastral databases; mobile geospatial field data collection and geo-tagging.
Documentation, technical support, and GIS training for staff and partners.
Eligibility: Master's degree in Geology, Geography, Computer Science, or related discipline with specialization in Geo-informatics, Geological Remote Sensing, or GIS. Proficiency with ArcGIS Desktop/Pro/Online, QGIS, GRASS, GeoServer, ENVI, ERDAS Imagine, OSM. Experience in digital image processing, change detection, LULC mapping, and GPS/DGPS surveying. Minimum 4 years relevant experience. Preference for watershed development and government collaboration experience; immediate joiners preferred.
