GIS Lead

Role GIS Lead Company DataBuilders, Dublin 11 Engagement 12-month contract Rate €300 - €400 depending on experience Location Hybrid Hours Monday to Friday, with flexible start and finish times Eligibility Right to work in Ireland required The role We are looking for an experienced GIS professional to take technical ownership of customer projects from design through to delivery. You will be the person a client trusts to scope the work properly, build it well and stand over the result. This is a hands-on lead role rather than a management one. You will spend most of your time in FME, ArcGIS, and Databases, with the remainder on solution design, customer workshops. What you will be doing Designing and building spatial data workflows in FME Form, then deploying, scheduling and monitoring them in FME Flow. Leading delivery on client projects, including scoping, technical design, build, testing, documentation and handover. You will have support from the CTO and PM as necessary. Configuring and supporting solutions across the Esri suite, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, Experience Builder, Dashboards, Field Maps and Survey123. Building automated validation and QA into pipelines so data quality issues are caught before a client ever sees them. Working directly with client teams, supporting requirements sessions, demos and training, and translating operational problems into practical technical solutions. Managing spatial data at scale across PostGIS, SQL Server, Oracle Spatial, file geodatabases and open data sources. Supporting presales work with technical input to proposals, estimates and tender responses. Mentoring engineers and consultants and raising the standard of how we build and document things. What you will bring Essential Three or more years working in GIS, spatial data engineering or a closely related field Hands on experience with FME Form, designing workflows and building workspaces Hands on experience with FME Flow, automations, schedules, workspace apps and troubleshooting Solid working knowledge of the Esri suite across desktop, enterprise and web, including publishing and managing services. Confident with Python and SQL, including ArcPy and the ArcGIS API for Python. Comfortable in front of clients, with the written and verbal communication skills to explain technical decisions to a non-technical audience. Evidence of owning a project end to end and delivering it on time. Nice to have Sector knowledge in local government, water, electricity, telecoms or transport. FME or Esri certification. Cloud deployment experience, particularly Azure or AWS. REST API integration work, or experience connecting GIS to enterprise systems such as CRM, finance or asset management platforms. Power BI, or other reporting and BI tools. Open source platforms such as QGIS, GeoServer or PostGIS. Experience working to public sector governance or data protection requirements.
