Build and protect the geospatial platforms that support mission-critical decisions.
Helyx SIS Ltd is looking for a GIS Platform Systems Engineer to design, deploy, operate and continuously improve secure ArcGIS Enterprise capabilities across Defence and National Security environments. This is an opportunity to combine enterprise GIS, infrastructure engineering, platform security and automation while solving complex operational challenges in both connected and disconnected environments.
The opportunity
You will take ownership of the availability, performance, resilience and security of our enterprise geospatial platforms. Working alongside infrastructure, cybersecurity and application specialists, you will deliver reliable GIS services, shape technical roadmaps and provide trusted consultancy to customers and stakeholders. The role blends hands-on ArcGIS Enterprise administration with systems engineering, platform integration, troubleshooting and technical leadership.
What you’ll do
Design, deploy, configure and maintain secure ArcGIS Enterprise environments and associated geospatial infrastructure.
Configure ArcGIS services and enterprise integrations across connected and disconnected environments.
Monitor platform availability, performance and capacity, using insight to improve service resilience.
Provide 2nd and 3rd line support, leading incident investigation, troubleshooting and root-cause resolution.
Manage upgrades, patching, backup, disaster recovery and platform lifecycle activities.
Automate installation, administration and support tasks using PowerShell.
Support security accreditation, technical assurance, compliance and risk-mitigation activities.
Produce clear architecture, design, operational and support documentation.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring and practical consultancy across multidisciplinary teams.
What you’ll bring
Strong hands-on experience installing, configuring, administering and supporting ArcGIS Enterprise.
Proven systems engineering experience across complex, secure ICT environments and common virtualisation platforms.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy and DNS.
Good understanding of enterprise networking, including load balancing, firewalls, routers and switches.
Experience of system monitoring, performance tuning, capacity management and production support.
Working knowledge of PowerShell automation and repeatable platform deployment.
Experience implementing security controls across complex IT infrastructure.
Ability to translate operational and business needs into practical, supportable technical solutions.
Confident stakeholder engagement and communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
A collaborative, improvement-focused approach, with strong documentation and problem-solving skills.

Because of the nature of our Defence and Government work, applicants must already hold Developed Vetting (DV) that can be transferred to Helyx.
