We are looking for a GIS Student to join our Oil Sands Regulatory team, where you will have the opportunity to collaborate with members of the Mining, Environment, and Regulatory teams, as we work together to build application maps and digitize data. You can contribute to the success of Canadian Natural’s operations by understanding and explaining leading edge environmental regulations. Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday) Term length:8 months Term start:May 2027 Safety sensitive position: Yes Application deadline: This posting will close once the successful candidate(s) have been selected. Key Accountabilities: Support Regulatory, Environment and Pathways teams through collecting/filing required spatial data, digitizing data, and generating application maps Manage (review, update, organize) existing and new environmental GIS data Acquire hands-on experience with several widely used industry software programs, including ArcGIS Map, ArcGIS Pro, FME and Global Mapper Help build and maintain innovative models and GIS solutions for unique environmental situations Assist with non-spatial data management for various Environmental disciplines (MS Office) Learn to build project specific maps in Portal to support teams What You Bring to The Role: Currently enrolled in a GIS degree, applied degree or diploma program Motivated, collaborative, organized, and able to manage competing priorities Solid understanding and experience of ESRI products (ESRI ArcGIS, Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Model Builder) Previous field data collection experience using ArcGIS would be an asset ArcGIS Enterprise knowledge is an asset Previous FME, Python, AutoCAD experience is an asset An understanding of remote sensing methods and data processing (LiDAR; Photogrammetry) is an asset What We Offer: Competitive salary Paid time off during Christmas week and summer Fridays in July and August Multiple volunteer opportunities within the community Students may be eligible for relocation assistance pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Student Relocation Policy + Students will be responsible for finding their own accommodations during the work term Opportunities to partake in initiatives such as the Intern Social Committee Check out ourCOMPENSATION & BENEFITS (https://www.cnrl.com/content/uploads/2024/03/Compensation-and-Benefits-Student.pdf) overview to learn more about what we have to offer!
