The Role
Location: On-site, Eveleigh, Sydney
Duration: Flexible, to suit student availability and course/placement requirements
Please note this is an unpaid internship, structured as a vocational placement in line with your institution's course requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the team to process and analyse LiDAR point cloud and satellite/aerial imagery data;
Assist with terrain modelling and vegetation/canopy classification for client analyses;
Documentation and client report writing support
Requirements:
Be currently studying a degree in geospatial science, surveying, remote sensing, environmental science, geography, or a related field (or have a strong quantitative/spatial-analysis background)
Have working knowledge of GIS software (ArcGIS Pro or QGIS)
Have full working rights in Australia, with citizenship in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, South Korea, or another European country
Desired:
Experience with Python and geospatial libraries (e.g. geopandas, rasterio, GDAL, PDAL)
Exposure to LiDAR point cloud processing tools
Strong written communication skills, with an interest in technical/client reporting
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Key learning opportunities:
Direct mentorship on real-world spatial analysis problems
Experience working with LiDAR, satellite imagery, and terrain data on live client engagements
Opportunity to interact with council/government stakeholders to understand requirements
Experience writing technical and client-facing reports to a professional/industry standard

Exposure to the operational realities of building a new business unit within a fast-moving space startup
