About the Role
IMPACT Initiatives is a humanitarian NGO based in Geneva that manages initiatives including REACH. The Amman Multi-Country Office (MCO) hosts integrated MENA missions.
Position: GIS Specialist / GIS & Remote Sensing Specialist
Department: IMPACT
Contract duration: 9 months
Location: Amman, Jordan (MCO)
Starting date (per listing): 01/10/2026
Under the Senior Research Manager, with HQ Remote Sensing Specialist guidance, the role conducts geospatial analysis and mapping for rapid humanitarian needs assessments across MCO missions (including Yemen, Jordan, Lebanon, and related countries). Responsibilities cover research planning, satellite-based modelling (Google Earth Engine, Python, R), hydrological/climate modelling, damage/change detection, spatial data management, map and web-map products, and external engagement.
Requirements:
At least 5 years relevant experience, preferably humanitarian
Advanced geo-spatial analysis and cartography
Advanced ESRI suite (ArcPro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online); good Google Earth Engine; Excel; R/STATA/Python an advantage
Remote sensing tools such as ESA SNAP, GRASS, HECRAS, SWAT
Master's or equivalent in a relevant discipline
Fluency in English; regional experience desirable
Compensation (per listing): about 3,180–3,240 CHF monthly before tax plus living allowance and benefits package.
