GIS Senior Engineer

Geoportal values innovation, technical excellence, and a user-centered approach to geospatial technology. Role Description The GIS Senior Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Cairo, Egypt. The person in this role will have a high level of proficiency in mapping using satellite imagery. Design, develop, and maintain GIS applications, ensuring that map services and geospatial tools are accurate, performant, and user-friendly. Daily tasks include configuring and managing GIS databases, integrating spatial data from multiple sources, and creating maps and visualizations that support business and operational needs. Responsibilities Include troubleshooting technical issues, optimizing system performance, documenting workflows and standards, and mentoring junior team members on GIS best practices. Qualifications High level of proficiency in mapping using satellite imagery. Hands-on experience working with Maps and map services, including creating, editing, and publishing cartographic products. Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and GIS Applications, with experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining geospatial solutions. Strong Analytical Skills for spatial analysis, data interpretation, and problem-solving in complex geospatial projects. Experience in software development or scripting (e.g., Python, SQL) for automating GIS workflows and integrating GIS with other systems is an advantage. Background in large-scale geospatial projects or enterprise GIS environments, with knowledge of data standards and best practices, is preferred.
