About the Role
Background
SoCha, LLC is preparing a response to USAID/Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)’s EVAL ME II activity — the Mission Support Services Program (MSSP). We seek qualified GIS specialists to deliver services across the DRC.
Scope of Work
Illustrative Duties
The Selected Candidate will:
Design and implement GIS projects to generate custom maps and geospatial analytical reports;
Maintain and update geospatial data in the Mission’s GIS system;
Support development of tools and data management for Third-Party Monitoring (TPM) activities, including mobile data collection;
Build data visualizations aligned with end-user requirements;
Produce cartographic products using TPM activity data, program evaluations, and special studies/assessments;
Collaborate with TPM staff to collect and clean monitoring and geolocation data;
Provide geospatial services to USAID to support program management, analysis, planning, and advocacy;
Partner with USAID staff to develop innovative geospatial products enhancing publications, stories, and creative social media content;
Collaborate closely with stakeholders to share information;
Read and interpret technical documents;
Train end users on GIS hardware and software;
Maintain GIS computer systems and databases;
Perform map reproduction activities using established techniques;
Perform other tasks as needed to meet the project’s GIS requirements.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
A graduate degree in statistics, geography, geographic information systems, or a related field;
Minimum 5 years’ experience collecting quantitative and qualitative data;
Minimum 3 years’ experience analyzing geospatial data;
Demonstrated experience in cartographic production and a strong portfolio reflecting the ability to process complex datasets and produce detailed, visually compelling map products;
Experience working with USAID is preferred;
Proficiency with ArcGIS, QGIS, and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
Proven ability to use, manipulate, and refine spatial and other data types from diverse sources, including metadata compilation;
Experience working with satellite imagery;
Experience communicating geospatial policy;
Experience in GIS editing, cartography, or urban geography is preferred.
