GIS Specialist – Intern
(Number of applicants: 1)
The employment relationship will be established for a fixed period of one year, aimed at training the intern for independent work.
Eligibility Criteria:
Minimum Education Level: Higher vocational education (VŠS) – completed professional or pre-bachelor university program (180–240 ECTS credits); EQF levels 6 (higher vocational) and 6 (bachelor).
Field of Study: Technical orientation – geodesy, civil engineering, geoinformatics, geomatics, or related field.
Work Experience: Not required; candidate must meet criteria for internship status (no prior professional experience in the field).
Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD.

Internship Salary: 80% of the full salary for the same position after completion of the internship period.
Job Description and Internship Training
Under the guidance of a mentor and supervising staff, the intern will gradually acquire competencies in geographic information systems (GIS) and become familiar with the company’s business processes, technical documentation, and information systems.
During the internship, the candidate will be trained in and exposed to the following tasks:
Preparing data and entering GIS records of completed water supply and sewerage network reconstructions and expansions;
Methods of collecting, entering, and updating infrastructure data in the GIS system;
Procedures for processing, verifying, and validating spatial data, and entering them into appropriate databases;
Logging and spatially displaying located faults in the GIS system for monitoring and analyzing critical network sections and planning pipeline replacements;
Maintaining databases and ensuring data integrity and reliability in the GIS system;
Identifying deficiencies and irregularities in the GIS system and proposing corrective measures;
Ensuring data availability and currency in the GIS system, including digital maps and related technical documentation;
Fundamentals of developing, adapting, and enhancing GIS applications and databases according to company needs;
Field procedures for marking and recording water supply and sewerage infrastructure using appropriate surveying equipment and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR);
Preparing maps of water supply and sewerage systems and sketches required for establishing easement rights;
Processing and visualizing spatial information through appropriate cartographic representations;
Fundamentals of conducting technical analyses and spatio-temporal modeling to support planning and decision-making;
Preparing reports, thematic maps, and other cartographic outputs for technical and administrative purposes.
The intern will perform these tasks progressively, based on acquired knowledge and skill level, under the guidance, supervision, and support of the mentor or supervising staff, with the goal of gaining practical knowledge, skills, and competencies required for independent GIS work after completion of the internship.
