GIS Specialist Lead

Job Title: GIS Specialist Lead Company: Geo-Pointer Mapping About the Role Geo-Pointer Mapping is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented GIS Specialist Lead to direct spatial data operations, lead cartographic modeling projects, and oversee GIS software deployments. You will manage a team of GIS analysts, design complex spatial databases, and translate geographic data into actionable spatial intelligence for municipal, environmental, and infrastructure clients. Key Responsibilities Spatial Data Architecture: Design, maintain, and optimize geodatabases, spatial layers, and enterprise GIS servers. Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor GIS analysts, manage project deliverables, and establish technical standards for data collection and cartographic output. Advanced Spatial Analysis: Perform complex spatial modeling, network analysis, remote sensing image processing, and terrain visualization. Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with engineers, urban planners, and field teams to integrate GIS tools into broader workflow systems. Automation & Scripting: Develop custom scripts and web mapping applications to automate data processing and spatial reporting. Requirements Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in GIS data analysis and mapping, with at least 1-2 years in a lead or supervisory role. Technical Proficiency: Advanced expertise with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/Enterprise, QGIS, and spatial database management (PostGIS/SQL). Scripting Skills: Proficiency in Python (ArcPy/PyQGIS) or JavaScript for spatial automation and web map development. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field.
