GIS Technician

Texas State University is searching for a GIS Technician who can support the environmental compliance program at Fort Knox, located near Louisville, Kentucky. We are looking for a person who can provide technical guidance to the Government in performing data acquisition and analysis that is accurate, complete, current, and valid for the installation’s environmental layers. This includes coordinating with the government regarding implementation of the GIS program; strategic planning; compliance with federal, state, local, and Army Regulations, Directives, and Standards; providing technical support to the Government in the development of Standard Operating Procedures and management plans. This may also include providing technical input and recommendations regarding GIS operations, capabilities, and collection of data. This position is located at Fort Knox, Kentucky, which is located just south of Louisville, Kentucky. Louisville is the largest city in Kentucky and is a cultural, entertainment, and sporting hub for the area. The primary objective of this position is to provide scientific and technical skills pertaining to the implementation of the Fort Knox air program. The job will involve a wide range of natural resource and environmental compliance projects that support military training and development.
