Position Overview
We are hiring a GIS Technician / Geomatician for our offices in Balma (31 – Toulouse) or Montpellier, within the Environmental and Ecological Engineering Department.
Job Description
The role involves supporting environmental, water, ecology, and energy studies through GIS-based deliverables. For environmental impact assessments and regulatory documentation, we rely heavily on spatial data to produce high-quality outputs. You will design, implement, and provide project teams with:
Maps and cartographic atlases
Spatial and statistical analysis results
Interactive tools via a unified collaborative platform (WebSIG) to streamline data use both in-office and in the field.
Integrated into the team responsible for producing engineering studies and documents using GIS, your responsibilities for each project will include:
Data Integration: Collecting and integrating environmental data from various sources as well as project design data.
Data Processing: Converting formats (especially DWG to GIS), quality control (topology, attributes, data consistency).
Spatial & Attribute Analysis: Conducting multi-criteria analyses.
Cartographic Production: Creating maps tailored to internal needs, with flexibility to adapt to client graphic charters.
Data Dissemination: Delivering final outputs through a dedicated web-based collaborative platform for project teams and clients.
Depending on the project, you may also be asked to:
Implement mobile/offline solutions adapted to field data collection or real-time information tracking.
Qualifications
Minimum Bac+3 (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in GIS, geomatics, or cartography.
Mandatory: Proficiency in at least one GIS software (ideally QGIS or ESRI ArcGIS suite).
GIS Software: QGIS (preferred), ESRI solutions.
Web Mapping Tools: ArcGIS Online / Portal for ArcGIS, GeoServer, GeoNode.
Databases: PostgreSQL/PostGIS, ESRI SDE, GeoPackage, file-based geodatabases.
Programming Languages: Python and SQL.
Cartography: Strong understanding of cartographic semiotics.
Professional Experience: Minimum 3 years in similar GIS roles.
