JOB DETAILS: Job Title: GIS Tester with Electrical Testing experience Location: Bay Area, CA Duration: Contract Job Description: We are looking for an experienced GIS Tester / GIS Testing Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and a solid background in electrical testing and utility systems. The candidate will be responsible for testing GIS applications, validating electrical network data, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of utility asset and network information. Key Responsibilities Perform functional, integration, system, regression, and UAT testing for GIS applications and utility systems. Validate GIS data related to electrical distribution, transmission, substations, transformers, feeders, poles, cables, and other utility assets. Test electrical network connectivity, topology, asset relationships, and network tracing. Verify GIS data against electrical drawings, engineering documents, field data, and source systems. Identify and troubleshoot data-quality issues, connectivity errors, missing attributes, and incorrect asset relationships. Develop and execute test cases, test scenarios, test scripts, and test plans. Perform data validation and reconciliation between GIS and downstream/upstream systems. Test GIS workflows involving electric utility operations, maintenance, work management, and asset management. Collaborate with GIS analysts, electrical engineers, developers, business analysts, and utility operations teams. Log, track, and manage defects using tools such as JIRA, ALM, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms. Support test automation where applicable. Participate in requirement reviews and provide input on testability and acceptance criteria. Validate GIS changes and ensure production releases meet functional and data-quality requirements. Required Skills Strong experience in GIS testing, preferably within the electric utility/energy domain. Strong understanding of electrical distribution and utility network concepts. Experience testing electrical assets such as: Ø Transformers Ø Substations Ø Feeders Ø Switches Ø Breakers Ø Poles Ø Conductors/cables Ø Service points Ø Meters Experience with GIS data validation and spatial data testing. Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS or similar GIS platforms. Understanding of electrical network topology, connectivity, and tracing. Experience with SQL for database/data validation. Experience creating and executing detailed test cases and test scripts. Strong defect management and troubleshooting skills. Good understanding of SDLC/STLC and QA methodologies. Preferred Skills Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Utility Network, or ArcFM. Experience with Esri Utility Network and electric utility GIS implementations. Knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL databases. Experience with GIS APIs, web services, and system integrations. Experience with ETL/data migration testing. Knowledge of SCADA, OMS, ADMS, or other utility applications is a plus. Experience with test automation tools is a plus. Knowledge of electric utility standards and workflows is preferred.
