What You Will Do
As an ICT/GIS Specialist at the Mine and Sapper School, you ensure that instructors and trainees have access to reliable, up-to-date, and fully functional ICT and GIS systems. You work at the intersection of ICT, geospatial information, and innovative technologies such as drones and sensors.
You will be embedded within the Instruction Platoon for Further Training of the Mine and Sapper School, part of the Engineering Training and Instruction Centre (OTC Genie) in Vught. Your primary focus will be supporting the Engineering Intelligence and Reconnaissance (GIV) Instruction Group.
You are responsible for managing and further developing ICT systems, GIS applications, and the associated terrain database. You ensure systems remain available, user-friendly, and current, and you support the introduction of new hardware and software.
Additionally, you serve as a key point of contact for colleagues, investigating technical issues, proposing solutions, and advising on the procurement, setup, and use of ICT and GIS tools. You proactively explore new developments and opportunities to integrate technology into training and instruction.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Managing, maintaining, and updating ICT hardware and software;
Implementing new ICT systems and applications;
Managing and further developing the GIS portal and its underlying database;
Analyzing and resolving ICT and GIS-related incidents and issues;
Executing change, configuration, and asset management tasks;
Identifying recurring problems and developing structural solutions;
Contributing to requirements for new or replacement ICT and GIS tools;
Testing and evaluating new hardware and software;
Advising supervisors and colleagues on ICT, GIS, and technical matters;
Staying up to date on developments in GIS, drones, sensors, and other innovative technologies;
Supporting instructors and trainees with ICT-related tasks during training and instruction.
A key part of your role is integrating ICT with geospatial information. You work with GIS portals, geographic databases, drone data, LiDAR, imagery, and 3D data to support training within the Engineering domain.
You collaborate closely with colleagues at OTC Genie and with internal and external partners in ICT, GIS, and geospatial information.
Where You Will Work
You will be based at the Engineering Training and Instruction Centre (OTC Genie) in Vught—the Dutch Army’s authority for engineering-related training and instruction.
The Mine and Sapper School contributes to military operational readiness by delivering training, supporting operational units, and developing and implementing new knowledge and innovations.

What We Require
Education
Minimum MBO-4 diploma in IT, ICT, computer engineering, or a comparable field.
MBO-4 in Geo, Data & Design, Geo-ICT, or surveying is a plus.
Knowledge of GIS, geospatial information, LiDAR, 3D data, drone data, and imagery is a plus.
Experience
Some experience managing ICT systems, hardware, software, and networks.
Experience with GIS, geospatial information, drone data, LiDAR, 3D data, or imagery is a plus.

Additional Benefits
