Job Description
The Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (DWEE) is looking for an Information Technology Senior GIS Analyst/Developer to work closely with the Department’s IT and GIS teams. We are looking for an individual with great communication skills, problem solving techniques, and GIS knowledge who will coordinate with DWEE staff in developing and maintaining our Department GIS systems, data, and applications.

Location and address of position: 245 Fallbrook Blvd – Suite 100 – Lincoln, NE
Work schedule: Monday – Friday – 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Flexible schedule may be allowed with management approval.
Job Duties
The GIS Analyst will, with supervision, be responsible for:
Participating in appropriate committees at the Department and State levels
Creating and maintaining Department Enterprise GIS databases
Creating and maintaining GIS applications and interactive maps
Creating tools for process improvement for the Department’s Divisions
Creating and maintaining templates, figures, forms, and GIS project files
Creating automated tasks and workflows for real-time applications
Creating and maintaining Field Data Collection Applications
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience, education, or training in coding computer applications; programming experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree with major course work in GIS or another related field. Preference will be given to candidates possessing experience with ESRI software and applications.

Knowledge Of
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
:
Familiarity with geospatial concepts, practices and procedures including coordinate systems, projections, topology, LiDAR and Elevation derivatives, geodatabase management, version control. Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Online, Story Maps, Dashboards, Web Experience Builder, and other applications as needed.
Skill In:
Python, SQL, Arcade, Azure DevOps
Ability To:
Ability to analyze needs and user requirements. Effectively communicate, develop, and document information and ideas.
