We are looking for you as a Junior GIS Full-Stack Developer (m/f/d) at the earliest possible date for DB Fahrwegdienste GmbH in Berlin.
Your Responsibilities:
Develop technologies and components for our GIS-supported vegetation management system at DB Fahrwegdienste, supporting end users from data acquisition through data management, interaction, and visualization.
Handle database modeling of vegetation data, interface and architecture design, and support for our data collection app QField as part of your daily work.
Continuously update and maintain our GIS applications and components—including web interface, central database, WebGIS, and collection app—and ensure sustainable further development through targeted refactoring.
Support our specialists in frontend and backend development of our web application.
Manage a wide range of domain-specific data and prepare it for users and systems via a well-thought-out data and interface architecture. Develop modern, consistent interfaces aligned with our data models using established API design concepts (REST).
Work goal-oriented in projects and on feature enhancements together with the team, carry out releases, and rotate in supporting day-to-day operations.
Contribute to the design, automation, and continuous improvement of internal and user-oriented workflows.
Your Profile:
Successfully completed vocational or university degree in geoinformatics or a comparable field with initial professional experience; alternatively, you bring a comparable vocational training with relevant professional experience.
Confident handling of geographic information systems (GIS) and relational databases, along with experience in designing GIS architectures, data flows, and processing geospatial data.
Practical experience in backend and frontend programming with Python, JavaScript, and React.
Knowledge of PostgreSQL, GeoServer, MapStore, QField, and QGIS, as well as hands-on experience with Git, Docker, WSL, and Linux is advantageous.
Approach new developments pragmatically and optimistically, and emphasize sustainable documentation of your solution strategies and steps for the team.
You are service- and solution-oriented, structured, communicative, and demonstrate strong team orientation.
You place the operation and continuous further development of a holistic and intuitive system for our users at the center of your work.
Why It Matters to Us:
Our goal is to offer all candidates equal opportunities upon equal suitability. We actively promote diversity and collaboration within our teams. We value every application, regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic and social background, religion, worldview, disability, age, duration of unemployment, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Benefits:
Engaging projects and tasks at one of the most diverse employers in the country—challenging your skills and awaiting your unique input.
In the digital sector, you’ll be equipped with a mobile end device, which you may also use for private purposes.
We support flexible, individual working models and, where operationally feasible, promote modern working methods such as remote work.
