About the Role
Role Summary
The Mid-Level Geospatial Engineer supports enterprise geospatial systems and data within a complex, mission-critical technology environment. This role assists with the development, maintenance, evaluation, and secure deployment of geospatial applications and data services. The position works collaboratively with technical, cybersecurity, platform engineering, and operational teams to support reliable and secure geospatial solutions.
Responsibilities
Support the review and validation of geospatial deliverables, including web maps, spatial analyses, and geoprocessing tools developed by vendors or contractors.
Assist in translating business and operational requirements into technical specifications for GIS solutions and applications.
Provide technical support to internal teams, cybersecurity teams, and external contractors regarding geospatial software deployment and related technical issues.
Contribute to the integration of geospatial applications within modern DevSecOps environments.
Develop and maintain migration documentation, onboarding checklists, and operational procedures.
Collaborate with platform engineering teams to establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for deploying geospatial software.
Maintain metadata standards, schema baselines, and data quality guidelines for geospatial datasets.
Participate in evaluating GIS environments for alignment with established performance, technical, and security standards.
Support monitoring, reporting, and documentation activities related to geospatial systems and data pipelines.
Review proposed system architectures to support alignment with established technical and security requirements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with 6 to 9 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience.
DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, CND, or SSCP, as applicable to the position.
Working knowledge of Python programming.
Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational database technologies.
Familiarity with ArcGIS Data Store or comparable GIS data management tools.
Understanding of system lifecycle processes, infrastructure engineering, and configuration management baselines.
Experience using enterprise tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or ServiceNow for task, issue, and dependency tracking.
Ability to complete required privileged-user access and role-based access control (RBAC) processes applicable to the position.
Ability to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust determination.
Publishing Pay Range:
USD $95,000.00 – USD $120,000.00 Annually
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
