Project Junior Research Fellow (JRF) — Spectral Remote Sensing for Mining

Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF), 1 opening. Project: "A remotely sensed spectral framework for geological samples: Bridging spectral variability and multi-scale integration for mining and mineral industry applications." (Project No. SRDP 1405 G / TEXMiN; Sanction DAR/27/2026-27). Principal Investigator: Prof. Maitreya Mohan Sahoo, Mining Engineering, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. Tenure: up to 30 November 2027. Fellowship: Rs. 37,000 per month (consolidated). Job description: Develop an integrated, standardized spectral framework and repository of mineral and rock spectra; acquire laboratory spectral data; geochemical analyses; address spectral variability (composition, texture, grain size); integrate field, airborne, and spaceborne remote sensing scales for cross-sensor calibration and spectral resampling. Essential qualification: B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Mining Engineering / Geoinformatics / related branches with GATE/NET; OR M.Sc./M.Sc.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Earth Sciences / Geology / Applied Geology / Geoinformatics / Remote Sensing and GIS / Geosciences / related branches with GATE/NET. Exceptional candidates from reputed institutions preferred. Desirable: experience or exposure to remote sensing, spectroradiometry, geochemical analyses, machine learning, computer programming.
