Reality Capture Technologist – LiDAR / 3D Scanning Contoured, Inc. | Orange County, CA Full-Time | Local & Nationwide Travel Salary Range: $48,000–$62,000 Build a Career in Reality Capture Contoured, Inc. is hiring 2–3 full-time Reality Capture Technologists to join our Indoor Mapping team. This is a hands-on field technology role for someone who wants to work with advanced LiDAR scanners, 3D imaging systems, survey tools, point clouds, and digital building documentation while traveling to commercial and civic projects throughout California and across the United States. Previous LiDAR or 3D scanning experience is a plus, but not required. We are willing to train the right person. Technical skills can be taught. Strong communication, professionalism, accountability, and judgment are essential. What You’ll Do As a Reality Capture Technologist, you will travel to client locations and capture highly accurate existing-condition data used to create as-built drawings, BIM/Revit models, digital twins, building measurements, and other project documentation. Key responsibilities include: Operating mobile and stationary LiDAR scanners and reality capture equipment Capturing accurate 3D scan data and spherical imagery Preparing, transporting, and maintaining scanners, survey tools, and accessories Reviewing field conditions and confirming complete data capture before leaving a site Maintaining accurate field notes and project documentation Coordinating with team leads, project managers, clients, and building personnel Communicating project progress, access issues, field conditions, and problems promptly Following company procedures, client requirements, and jobsite safety standards Traveling locally and nationwide for project assignments Get FAA Licensed Part 107 Drone Pilot Communication Is Paramount Our field teams frequently represent Contoured directly in front of clients. Successful candidates must communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with clients and coworkers. This includes asking questions when instructions are unclear, reporting issues before they become problems, providing accurate project updates, and working effectively as part of a team. This is an active field role that may require extended walking and standing, climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, reaching, working indoors and outdoors, and lifting or transporting equipment weighing approximately 50–75 pounds .
