🎓 Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, GIS, Earth Sciences, or related fields.
What will you do?
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Application Engineer / Analyst specializing in Geospatial Services, Remote Sensing, and Public Sector Unit (PSU) project workflows. In this role, you will lead the technical analysis, implementation, and application development of GIS and Earth observation data to deliver tailored geospatial solutions for government and public-sector initiatives.
You will bridge the gap between complex Earth observation datasets (satellite/aerial imagery, LiDAR, SAR) and actionable geospatial software tools, supporting critical applications in urban planning, land records, natural resource management, infrastructure development, and disaster mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Implementation & Application Development
Perform advanced processing, classification, feature extraction, and analysis of multi-spectral, hyperspectral, SAR, and LiDAR remote sensing data.
Design, test, and deploy customized geospatial tools, automated workflows, and web/desktop GIS applications tailored to specific project requirements.
Develop automated data processing pipelines and scripts using Python, R, or SQL for raster and vector data handling.
Government & PSU Project Execution
Analyze RFP/RFQ technical requirements, technical specifications, and Scope of Work (SOW) for public sector and PSU tenders.
Ensure data standards and deliverables comply with official geospatial policies, national spatial data infrastructures (NSDI), and government data security guidelines.
Produce technical documentation, spatial analysis reports, system architecture diagrams, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) protocols for government stakeholders.
Geospatial Data Management & Integration
Manage large-scale spatial databases (PostGIS, Enterprise Geodatabases) and perform spatial ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) operations.
Integrate GIS platforms with external enterprise systems, satellite data feeds, and IoT sensors.
Conduct QA/QC audits on spatial datasets, imagery, and map deliverables to maintain high cartographic and positional accuracy standards.
Stakeholder Engagement & Technical Support
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers, software developers, and field survey teams.
Conduct technical demonstrations, training workshops, and post-deployment support for PSU clients and government officials.
Technical Skillset
GIS & Image Processing Software: Expertise in ArcGIS Pro / ArcGIS Enterprise, QGIS, ERDAS IMAGINE, ENVI, or SNAP.
Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in Python (GDAL/OGR, Rasterio, Shapely, GeoPandas, ArcPy) and SQL.
Geospatial Databases & Web GIS: Experience with PostGIS, PostgreSQL, GeoServer, and OGC standards (WMS, WFS, WCS).
Cloud & Advanced RS Tools: Familiarity with Earth Engine platforms (Google Earth Engine, AWS Earth, or Copernicus Open Access Hub).
Key Competencies
Proven track record of working on government, municipal, or PSU geospatial contracts (e.g., land records modernization, forestry mapping, urban planning, or utility mapping).
Strong understanding of government procurement processes, documentation standards, and regulatory frameworks.
Excellent technical writing, analytical problem-solving, and client communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with machine learning/deep learning techniques for automated feature extraction from imagery (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch for satellite imagery).
Exposure to drone/UAV image processing tools (e.g., Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape).
Formal GIS or project management certifications (e.g., GISP, PMP).
