About the Role
Overview
Turing is urgently seeking Earth Sciences, Geospatial, and Scientific Computing Experts with strong programming skills for a 5-week remote contract engagement. In this role, you will build and validate AI benchmark tasks, process complex earth science data, and perform numerical modeling across atmospheric, geophysical, and oceanographic domains.
Key Responsibilities
AI Benchmark Development: Build, test, and validate AI benchmark tasks and evaluation frameworks.
Scientific & Geospatial Data Processing: Handle satellite imagery, climate data, time-series analysis, and large-scale spatial datasets.
Numerical Modeling & Analysis: Develop and execute numerical models for climate, atmospheric science, geophysics, geology, hydrology, and oceanography.
Technical Workflows: Implement reproducible data analysis workflows in Linux/terminal environments.
Qualifications & Skills
Domain Expertise: Advanced Earth Sciences expertise (Geology, Geophysics, Hydrology, Oceanography, Climate Science, or Geospatial Science). PhD, Postdoc, or equivalent advanced research/industry experience strongly preferred.
Programming & Scripting: Strong programming skills in Python, R, Julia, and Bash.
Data & Tooling: Proven experience with scientific computing, geospatial libraries, and time-series data processing.
System Environment: High proficiency with Linux/Unix terminal-based workflows.
Role Details & Compensation
Compensation: $300 per approved task
Workload: 40+ hours/week with 4 hours Pacific Standard Time (PST) overlap
Engagement Type: 5-Week Contract (Fully Remote)
