BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE CLIENT
Our client is a large public-sector organization undertaking a significant technology modernization initiative designed to enhance the development, maintenance, integration, and accessibility of critical geographic and enterprise data.
The organization is seeking an experienced Senior Developer to lead and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of a modern enterprise application using Microsoft .NET technologies, SQL Server, Azure, and ESRI GIS tools. The successful candidate will collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and application developers to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing technology solutions.
The Senior Developer is responsible for:
Design, develop, and implement full-stack applications using Microsoft technologies, including C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, .NET Core, .NET 9.0, Entity Framework, MVC, and JavaScript technologies.
Lead and participate in application development activities throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Develop and optimize database structures, stored procedures, and queries using Microsoft SQL Server.
Design and implement scalable cloud-based solutions using Microsoft Azure, including Azure App Service, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Functions.
Design, develop, and enhance ESRI ArcGIS Pro-based applications and custom extensions supporting spatial data editing.
Develop custom GIS tools, scripts, and workflows to improve data-editing and maintenance processes.
Integrate GIS applications and geospatial data with enterprise platforms and third-party systems.
Manage, process, and analyze spatial data from multiple sources while maintaining data integrity and accuracy.
Optimize spatial databases and file geodatabases for performance, reliability, and usability.
Automate GIS workflows using Python, ArcPy, Arcade, ModelBuilder, and related technologies.
Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and other application interfaces.
Collaborate with user-interface designers to integrate front-end components with server-side application logic.
Work directly with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, define solutions, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
Provide technical guidance to application developers and support system integration and implementation activities.
Participate in code reviews and recommend improvements that support code quality, maintainability, security, and performance.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex application and system issues.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system designs, workflows, implementation documentation, and user guides.
Ensure applications and technical solutions comply with established architecture standards, security protocols, and development best practices.
Support knowledge transfer and organizational adoption of newly developed systems and applications.
Stay current on emerging technologies and recommend opportunities to improve development processes and technical solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related discipline. Master’s degree is a plus.
Minimum of 8 years of professional software development experience, including demonstrated experience as a full-stack .NET Developer.
8+ years of hands-on experience with technologies including C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, .NET Core, Entity Framework, MVC, SQL Server, and Microsoft Azure.
Minimum of 4 years of experience with ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcMap-based GIS solution design and development.
Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Maps SDK for .NET, Python, ArcPy, Arcade, and ModelBuilder.
Demonstrated proficiency with the ESRI product suite, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, Portal, SDE DataStore, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, and ArcMap.
Strong knowledge of front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as React or Angular.
Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs.
Experience working with geospatial data using Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle/Oracle Spatial, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, and related database technologies.
Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and application development best practices.
Familiarity with DevOps, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and application lifecycle management practices.
Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, GitHub, version control, and release-management practices.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and perform effectively with minimal supervision.
Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Microsoft Azure certifications are a plus.
