The team delivers cutting-edge spatial analysis, data science, and interactive mapping solutions to inform national transport policy, infrastructure investment, and decarbonisation strategies across the UK. Key Responsibilities: • Lead the development and execution of complex spatial analytical projects supporting national transport planning. • Build automated GIS data pipelines and analytical workflows using Python, R, PostGIS, and cloud analytics tools. • Develop interactive spatial web applications, dashboards, and spatial data visualization tools for senior policy leaders. • Maintain and enhance DfT's core spatial data infrastructure and transport network model layers. • Provide expert geospatial consultancy, guidance, and training across the Department. Qualifications & Experience: • Degree or postgraduate qualification in GIS, Spatial Data Science, Geography, or related field. • Expertise in advanced spatial analysis using ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, Python (GeoPandas, PySAL), PostGIS, or R. • Proven track record in translating complex spatial data into strategic insights and policy recommendations.
