Survey Crew Chief
will report to the Construction Survey Manager, and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on the execution of heavy civil construction survey projects in the Greater Toronto Area. This will include projects in the residential and commercial land development sectors, as well as in the energy, mining, transportation, and defence sectors. You will be part of a team that provides a full range of surveying services including but not limited to cadastral surveying, engineering/topographic surveying, bathymetric surveying, construction monitoring, precision layout and as-builts, and high-definition 3D laser scanning. The wage range for this role is $35.00 - $45.00 hourly.
What You’ll Do:
The Survey Crew Chief will be part of the TULLOCH Geomatics team. You will:
Perform high-precision surveys such as industrial layout, deformation monitoring, levelling, and static control network surveys
Perform construction layout for anchor bolt locations, grid lines, formwork, concrete piers, and footings
Collect field data using traditional survey instruments such as total station and high precision levels as well as GPS field equipment
Read and decipher design documents and basic layout calculations on the fly
Perform pre-engineering, topographic surveys while overseeing field activities
Oversee QC of data collection ensuring that field notes and daily downloads are complete
Collect terrestrial scanning and UAV data
Interact with clients while onsite
Mentor and train new field staff
Assess field and documentary evidence to perform boundary surveys

Who You Are:
You have at least three (5) years of high precision field experience in heavy civil construction
You are proficient in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting conventional and GPS survey equipment or similar
You are familiar with static control surveys, high-precision layout work, and 1st order levelling techniques
You are willing to travel for site inspections and fieldwork
You exercise independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
You can pivot and alter approach or recommendations to accomplish desired results

A valid, Class G driver’s licence
