As a consulting engineering firm, our GIS team plays a vital role in supporting multidisciplinary projects by delivering geospatial services, digital solutions, and technical expertise to business units and project teams across Canada. We are seeking a Team Lead to join our expanding GIS team within AtkinsRéalis’ Applied Technologies work group. The successful candidate will supervise GIS staff in Quebec, coordinate and prioritize daily GIS tasks, understand internal client operational needs, and ensure high-quality, efficient delivery of GIS services within a multidisciplinary engineering and consulting environment. This role requires an experienced leader capable of mentoring technical staff, translating project and business requirements into actionable GIS work plans, and helping maintain consistent service quality across the organization. The Team Lead will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of a GIS team delivering digital and geospatial services to AtkinsRéalis’ business units—including Environment, Civil Engineering, Mining, Hydropower, Geotechnical Engineering—and other technical disciplines as needed. They will provide operational leadership by managing team members, assigning and delegating GIS tasks, balancing workloads, monitoring progress, and ensuring GIS support aligns with project priorities, client commitments, and operational needs. They will also help shape the vision, service model, technical direction, and growth strategy of the GIS team within Applied Technologies, while understanding how GIS integrates with other Applied Technologies disciplines such as BIM, reality capture, digital twins, data analytics, and related digital services. Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, the Team Lead will help identify evolving project needs, clarify expectations, recommend appropriate GIS and digital service approaches, and support the GIS Manager in strengthening collaboration across Applied Technologies, technical practices, business units, proposals & marketing, and project delivery teams. Your Role Supervise GIS team members across English-speaking Canadian provinces, providing daily coaching, support, and performance feedback. Assign, prioritize, and coordinate GIS tasks received through internal request channels, ensuring rapid and effective support to project teams and business units. Understand internal client operational and project delivery needs, and translate them into clear GIS work plans—including priorities, deliverables, and resource requirements. Coordinate planning, scheduling, workload balancing, and resource utilization for GIS team members. Support delivery of GIS and digital services for multidisciplinary engineering consulting projects across AtkinsRéalis’ business units—including Environment, Civil Engineering, Mining, Hydropower, Geotechnical Engineering—and other technical areas as required. Collaborate with other Applied Technologies disciplines—including BIM, 3D digitization, digital twins, data analytics, and associated digital delivery services—to identify integrated solutions for multidisciplinary projects. Contribute to developing the vision, service offering, strategic roadmap, and continuous improvement initiatives for the GIS team within Applied Technologies. Work with the GIS Manager and Director to identify opportunities for expanding GIS and digital services to meet evolving business, project, and client needs at AtkinsRéalis. Track task progress, resolve delivery issues, and escalate risks as needed. Report GIS resource constraints or gaps to the GIS Manager as required. Mentor and support geospatial technical staff at various career stages, ensuring quality, consistency, and productivity goals are met. Contribute to governance, standards, and standardized workflows for the internal GIS community of practice, in collaboration with the Quebec Team Lead, GIS Manager, and Director. Report to the GIS Manager and Director, and forecast team productivity, workload, and resource needs. Represent the GIS team in technology discussions—including software licensing, upgrades, network considerations, and product requirements. About You Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Field of Study: Geography, Geomatics, Geographic Information Science (GIS), Engineering, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, preferably including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
