About the Role
Company: FARYS | TMVW
Title: Team Leader – GIS Services
To ensure timely access to accurate, high-quality, and reliable information about our drinking water and sewer networks, all related data is managed within the Network Data Management department. This includes detailed measurement and mapping of network data (e.g., location, material, depth, diameter, etc.). The collected data is then carefully validated, loaded, and visualized in our GIS system.
A team of GIS specialists—each focused on specific GIS applications or services—ensures smooth, efficient, and high-quality use of these tools and services by field staff. This includes developing and optimizing guidelines for field staff, delivering training, monitoring data quality submitted from the field, capturing user needs and expectations, and translating them into requirements for the ICT department.
As Team Leader – GIS Services, you:
Lead and coach a team of 4 GIS specialists.
Act as the key link between daily GIS operations, the head of the Network Data Management department, and the GIS unit within the ICT department.
Oversee daily coordination and technical follow-up of GIS services.
Monitor team tasks, projects, and activities to manage workload, adjust planning and organization as needed.
Serve as an accessible point of contact for your team, providing guidance on both technical and content-related matters.
Support and coach team members in their professional development.
Ensure alignment and prioritization of tasks and projects, translating these clearly to stakeholders and actively tracking progress.
Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of your team’s operations.
Develop and maintain internal processes to address current and future challenges, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and uniformity—and identifying optimization opportunities in consultation with stakeholders.
Help ensure validated content is delivered on GIS-related topics, including process documentation, user guidelines, notes, and more.
Act as a bridge builder, promoting knowledge sharing, information flow, and mutual alignment—both within your team and across departments (e.g., field users, ICT GIS unit, other teams in the department).
Facilitate practices such as key-user meetings, training development, timely communication during emergencies, and stakeholder updates on new releases or revised guidelines—thereby fostering a culture of mutual understanding and active collaboration.
Dive deeply into our (sometimes complex) GIS and IT systems (e.g., Esri software, FME, SAP integrations), growing into a subject-matter expert. Together with the ICT GIS unit, you monitor technological developments and help further digitize and standardize GIS processes.
