Mission
We are seeking an experienced Technical Assistant, based in Kinshasa, to support the implementation of Bluesquare’s digital projects in the DRC. These projects focus primarily on geospatial health data (geographic reference systems, health maps, micro-planning, accessibility analyses), but also include other digital health initiatives.
With solid practical experience in geospatial data, you will serve as the technical and institutional backbone for our projects on the ground: advising the Ministry of Health’s directorates and programmes, helping to steer projects alongside project managers, and building the capacity of national teams.
Start date:
November 2026
Location:
Kinshasa, DRC, with possible travel to the provinces
Contract:
Consultant, 6 months, renewable
Team:
Bluesquare has over 90 staff across several countries. We value ownership, autonomy, flexibility, communication and teamwork.
Role and responsibilities
The Technical Assistant supports the implementation of projects in the DRC and acts as the on-the-ground technical and institutional liaison, working in collaboration with the Country Lead and the project managers.
Support for project implementation
Support the implementation of project activities, working closely with the project managers: ensuring deadlines are met, developing deliverables, and monitoring activities.
Contribute to the direction of projects: needs analysis, proposals for adjustments, identification of risks and bottlenecks.
Ensure that the needs of clients and partners are aligned with the technical solutions proposed by Bluesquare.
Participate actively in meetings with partners and institutions.
Use Bluesquare’s tools (JIRA, Odoo) for the day-to-day monitoring of activities.
Technical support and geospatial data
Be familiar with Bluesquare’s portfolio of solutions (IASO, DHIS2, OpenHEXA, BI tools) as well as common geospatial tools (e.g. QGIS), and make technical recommendations.
Carry out technical tasks: quality control, cleaning and updating of geographical data (health facilities, administrative divisions, localities), and the production of maps and simple analyses.
Translate programme needs into clear requirements for the technical team based in Brussels, and report back to them on any issues encountered and any necessary adjustments to the tools.
Participate in functional testing and the validation of solutions prior to delivery.
Advice and institutional support
Advise the directorates and programmes of the Ministry of Health on the management and use of geospatial data.
Provide the institutional expertise required to embed projects within the Ministry.
Maintain relationships of trust with directorates, programmes and partners.
Capacity Building
Design and deliver training on geospatial tools and data, with the support of other project members.
Support national teams in adopting the tools for day-to-day use: user support, documentation and coaching.
Other Responsibilities
Support the logistical organisation of workshops and missions.
Contribute to the development of new proposals and the identification of opportunities in the DRC.
Provide logistical support to the Country Lead where required.
You will report to the DRC Country Lead and to the project managers of the projects in which you are involved.
