Role Description You will be carrying out on-site surveys within the North West and UK. focusing on the detection, mapping, and recording of underground utilities using appropriate surveying instruments and technologies. Day-to-day tasks include collecting accurate field data, interpreting utility records, and producing clear drawings, reports, and digital outputs for project teams and clients. The role involves collaborating with engineers, project managers, and other survey professionals to ensure safe working practices, compliance with relevant standards, and timely delivery of survey information. The Utility Surveyor will also maintain equipment, follow quality assurance procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement of survey methods and workflows. This is a full-time, on-site position. Qualifications Strong technical surveying skills, including experience with utility detection equipment (e.g., GPR, cable locators) and knowledge of underground utility mapping techniques. Proficiency with survey instruments and software, such as total stations, GPS/GNSS, Ability to read, interpret, and update utility records, plans, and drawings, with attention to detail and accurate data recording. Understanding of health, safety, and environmental best practices when working on-site, including safe excavation and working near live services. Effective communication and teamwork skills for coordinating with colleagues, contractors, and clients, and for preparing clear technical reports. Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities, adapt to changing site conditions. Relevant qualification in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). UK driving license and willingness to travel to various sites across Greater Manchester and surrounding areas. Previous experience in utility surveying or geospatial surveying is highly beneficial; familiarity with UK utility standards and guidance is a plus.
